OSK-ShipTech has acquired marine architect and interior design firm Steen Friis Design to boost its position in the cruise ship design and refurbishment sector.
Based in Denmark, Steen Friis Design will continue as an independent company but will soon be integrated into the OSK offices in Copenhagen. The company has more than 18 years of experience in designing the interiors of passenger vessels and has worked with most Scandinavian shipowners and shipyards worldwide. It is currently designing the interior of Mercy Ships’s new hospital vessel, which is under construction at Xingang Shipyard in China.
“With increased focus on hotel management, accommodation and passenger comfort in the marine industry we are very excited about this addition to the OSK-ShipTech-group,” said Anders Ørgård Hansen, CEO of OSK-ShipTech. “This really cements our commitment and increases our capacities within ship interior design and exterior styling. We expect a high level of synergy between the two companies, and we are looking forward to continue working with our clients and provide them with the best solutions in modern ship design.”
OSK-ShipTech, which has more than 50 years of experience in ship design,
is currently leading the interior design project for Swedish operator Rederi AB Gotland’s two new LNG-powered ro-pax ferries at the Guangzhou Shipyard International in China. The first 1,650-passenger ferry will be delivered in 2017, while the second is due for delivery in 2018.
