Costa Cruises new €550 million flagship Costa Diadema will feature a 1,640 ft promenade on Deck 5 to provide guests with a new way to view the sea while onboard.

As the longest outdoor promenade of Costa’s fleet, the 16-foot-wide walk has been designed to replicate a traditional Mediterranean beachfront and has six cabanas and two Jacuzzis, which will extend out from the side of the ship. Roberto Bixio has designed two large glass mosaics entitled ‘Riviera Ligure’ that feature images from the Mediterranean coasts, which will be displayed on the left and right side of the promenade.

Several bars and restaurants will overlook the promenade, including Vinoteca Gran Duca di Toscana, which will offer regional Italian wine; Birreria, which will serve a selection of bottled beer from renowned Italian and foreign brewers, along with a range of beers on tap. Other bars include Bar Bollicine, which will have a selection of Prosecco and Spritz aperitifs, and Teodora Bar at the stern.

Costa Diadema – which has been dubbed Regina del Mediterraneo (Queen of the Mediterranean) – will offer a range of onboard features including dining areas and wine bars such as Japanese Teppanyaki, Piazza Pizza, Gelateria Amarillo, the a la carte Club Restaurant and the Samsara Restaurant. The 3,724-guest vessel will also offer new entertainment venues including the Country Rock Club, the Star Laser room and the 11,840 sq ft Portobello Market Piazza with designer stores and retail outlets.

Celebrating Costa’s long-standing relationship with Genoa, the christening ceremony will follow the ship’s delivery on 30 October. After delivery, the line will carry out a month of inaugural activities, including a preview cruise from Trieste to Genoa on 1 November.

After her naming ceremony on 7 November, Costa Diadema will sail three seven-day, western Mediterranean inaugural cruises. From 29 November throughout the 2014-2015 winter season, the ship sail roundtrip from Savona to Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Naples and La Spezia (Florence), Italy.
