P&O Cruises’ Pacific Explorer will with two waterslides, a chilled barefoot bowls green, a suppler club and much more when she debuts after a multimillion-dollar refurbishment next year.
Presently sailing as Dawn Princess with P&O Cruises’ sister line Princess Cruises, the 77,000-tonne Pacific Explorer will be refitted in May and June next year, sailing her first cruise from Sydney on 22 June 2017. She will join P&O ships Pacific Dawn and Pacific Jewel as well as P&O's latest additions, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, which debuted last year.
One highlight will be P&O’s first waterpark at sea, including one waterslide with LED lights and sound effects and a second slide with twists and turns. Younger guests can also enjoy a shaded area with a dumping bucket and oversized water toys. Other onboard activities will include the P&O Edge Adventure Park and barefoot bowls.
Pacific Explorer will also offer a range of new bars, including a hidden bar, and P&O’s most extensive range of dining options.
These include the new supper club venue, The Black Circus, which offers food and cabaret-style entertainment. The ship will also have a new gourmet pizza restaurant; the poolside Lobster & Burger bar; the Waterfront restaurant; Italian eatery Angelo’s; Asian dining venue, Dragon Lady; and Salt Grill by Luke Mangan overlooking the main pool area. The line’s international food market place, The Pantry, will be extended to include a ninth outlet, Nic and Toni's, serving Mediterranean cuisine.
“We’ve taken the winning features of our existing ships, then added a whole new layer of excitement with some big wow moments like the waterslides as well as new concepts like the bowling green and a stunning hidden bar, which we think will put a smile on our guests’ faces,” said Sture Myrmell, P&O Cruises’ president. “It really will be a ship that offers something for everyone.”
