AIDA Cruises is to christen AIDAperla in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on 30 June 2017.
AIDAperla, the line’s 12th ship and a sister to AIDAprima, will be named in a quayside ceremony that will be streamed live on the internet and via various social media channels. More details will be released soon.
“Those who know AIDA also know about our unique christening ceremonies,” said Felix Eichhorn, president of AIDA Cruises. “The skyline of Palma’s old town will be the breathtaking backdrop for a spectacular show of music and light, transforming the night skies above AIDAperla into a glistening flood of colour on the evening of her christening.”
From 1 July 2017, AIDAperla will sail seven-day western Mediterranean cruises from Palma de Mallorca to Barcelona, calling at Rome, Corsica and Florence. In March 2018, the ship will make her maiden visit to Hamburg and sail various seven-day roundtrips from the German city to destinations in Western Europe.
Highlights onboard AIDAperla include 12 restaurants, three snack bars, 14 bars, the Body & Soul Organic Spa, the Four Elements park with water slides and a climbing garden, the Kids and Teens Club, a Mini Club for children aged over six months, and the Beach Club, which is protected by a weather-resistant, UV-permeable foil dome. In addition, the Lanai Deck has infinity pools, glass elevators, two skywalks, state-of-the-art LED technology, airframes and an interactive, floating globe for the entertainment programme.
