Pandaw to boost US presence

Pandaw River Expeditions has joined with Global Voyages Group (GVG) to expand its presence in the North America market.

GVG, which supports niche cruise and travel companies, will help Pandaw to achieve its multi-year strategy of expanding its network of travel agents and attract guests looking for river cruise experiences.

“Pandaw River Expeditions is an extraordinary story and travel experience, providing exactly the right mix of authentic, deep destination immersion along with luxurious comfort and genuinely caring service,” said David Giersdorf, president and CEO of GVG. “The differences between Pandaw and other river cruises are substantial, setting it apart as one of the world’s great adventures.”

The operator’s 12, colonial-style boutique river vessels sail on the Irrawaddy and Chindwin Rivers in Burma, as well as on the Mekong River through Cambodia and Vietnam.

“The secret of our success is that while luxury and comfort are discreetly present on our ships, it is the colonial character and friendly atmosphere that predominate,” said Paul Strachan, founder of Pandaw River Expeditions. “All of our Pandaw ships have ultra-shallow drafts and can travel to remote areas, which would be unreachable by other vessels, let alone overland. Pandaw has had to keep coming up with new more adventurous, more cutting edge, routings and experiences – as other ships get bigger our ships are getting smaller!”
