The Port of Piraeus Authority (PPA) welcomed 250 Chinese tourists at an exclusive event onboard Celestyal Cruises’ Olympia before the ship embarked on a cruise from the port to the Greek islands.

Hosted by PPA’s CEO Captain Fu Chengqiu and Celestyal Cruises’ CEO Kyriakos Anastassiadis, the event is one of several initiatives that have been organised to encourage more Chinese travellers to visit the Mediterranean.

Chengqiu also presented a commemorative plaque to Anastassiadis in recognition of Celesytal Cruises’ role in helping to develop Piraeus into a Mediterranean homeport. In the past five years, the cruise line has embarked more than 650,000 cruise passengers from the Greek port.

“We cordially thank Celestyal Cruises for the productive cooperation and trust in the port of Piraeus,” said Chengqiu. “The development of Piraeus as a cruise port is very important for both, local and national economy. For this reason, we are planning to upgrade the cruise infrastructure and services to advance the great potential of the Piraeus port.”
