P&O Cruises’ new ship Iona has arrived in Rotterdam, Netherlands for inspection work after undergoing final outfitting in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The newbuild, which is being built by Meyer Werft, departed from the Columbus-kaje Pier in Bremerhaven on 30 May. The voyage was also used to perform several technical and nautical test runs in the North Sea.

Work onboard the vessel was temporarily interrupted in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the Bremerhaven Port Authority, Port Medical Service and Meyer Werft were able to draw up a joint plan to allow outfitting work to continue if employees adhere to social distancing restrictions.

Meyer Werft and P&O Cruises are currently working on a revised delivery date following the delays.
