French cruise line Ponant has selected Global Eagle Entertainment to provide technology and entertainment systems for its existing fleet as well as six new ships that will enter service between 2018 and 2020.

Global Eagle, which delivers more than 10,000 terabytes of content annually to more than 1,000 sea vessels and more than one billion passengers, will be providing Ponant with the latest in television and video, and each of its four existing ships will be upgraded with new 3.6-metre TVRO antennas.

“Ponant customers demand the best amenities on board and we are proud to be a valued partner that helps to enrich time during each voyage,” said Ole Sivertsen, senior vice president at Global Eagle. “As each new ship goes to sea, it will have the newest technology and premium entertainment to ensure great experiences onboard.”

Of the six new ships that Ponant will launch, Le Lapérouse and Le Champlain will come before the end of the year, followed by Le Bougainville, Le Dumont D’Urville, Le Surville and Le Bellot in 2019 and 2020.
