Port Canaveral in Florida, US has re-opened Cruise Terminal 5 after an extensive US$48.38 million refurbishment project to enable it to handle larger cruise ships.
Work to the 1991-built cruise facility started in August 2015 and involved the expansion of the terminal building and the addition of a longer pier, a 1,044-space parking garage, and mobile passenger boarding bridges.
Cruise Terminal 5 can now handle ships carrying up to 3,500 passengers, up from its previous capacity of 2,500.
The terminal opened with a call from Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Valor, while Carnival Sunshine also will berth at Terminal 5.
