The Port of Halifax has welcomed 292,722 guests from 173 cruise vessels in the 2017 cruise season, according to the Halifax Port Authority, breaking its passenger number record.
The cruise season in Halifax usually runs from mid-April to late-October and 2017 saw an increase of 23% in overall passenger numbers, and 27% in vessel calls.
“It was an incredible year for cruise in Halifax,” said Catherine McGrail, interim vice president of operations at Halifax Port Authority. “Nova Scotia is a great place to visit. People love coming here, and we work hard with our partners to keep them coming back. The tourism operators and service providers deserve full recognition for the tremendous season, and we are looking forward to working with them again next year.”
