The Port of Huelva is to welcome 19 cruise calls this year, a sharp rise from the six it handled in 2015.

To continue to boost its numbers, the Spanish port marketed itself as a marquee port for Mediterranean itineraries at Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale, Florida between 14 and 17 March.

Equipped to accommodate large cruise vessels at multiple piers, Huelva highlighted its historical connections with England and America, showcasing excursion possibilities to La Rábida monastery, the Rio Tinto copper mines, the English-style houses in the Barrio Reina Victoria quarter, Casa Colón, and the Muelle de Rio Tinto pier. It also promoted other nearby attractions, including the Marshland Odiel Park biosphere reserve, the Park of Doñana, and the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche.
