The Port of Seattle in Washington, US is to welcome just over 1.2 million cruise guests in 2019, breaking the previous year’s record of 1.1 million.

Highlights of the 2019 season will include visits from three of the largest cruise ships that are currently sailing on the US West Coast – Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss.

A new economic impact report from the Port of Seattle estimates that the direct, indirect and induced impacts of the cruise business will generate US$893.6 million in 2019. Each individual vessel call will contribute US$4.2 million, which is an increase from previous years. In addition, the cruise sector will support around 5,500 jobs in Seattle.
