The UK’s Port of Tyne is preparing to welcome Disney Cruise Lines’ Disney Magic on 7 June as part of the ship’s 12-night British Isles cruise.
The ship, which will return to the port on 19 June, is expected to arrive at 6.30am and depart at 5.45pm. While in the port, Disney Magic’s 2,700 cruise passengers will be able to take shore excursions to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle, Hadrian’s Roman Wall, Alnwick Castle and Garden and more.
“The Port of Tyne has worked extremely hard to attract visiting cruise lines to our award winning International Passenger Terminal in North Shields,” said Nolan Gray, Port of Tyne’s business development director. “We are delighted to be one of only two ports in England that Disney Cruise Lines have chosen to include in its itinerary.”
This year, the Port of Tyne expects to host a record 42 cruise calls, half of which will see passengers disembark to explore North East England’s major tourist attractions.
“North East England has the regional infrastructure to grow UK departures from the Port of Tyne, and iconic tourist attractions to increase the number of visiting cruise calls,” said Gray. “Next year will be another record year for our cruise terminal and over 50 vessels are already booked including Disney Magic – which I'm very pleased to say is returning next July.”
