UK port will handle 50 cruise calls and serve as a departure port for several lines

The Port of Tyne in North East England is set for another record year in 2017, having already secured more than 50 cruise calls.
Following its all-time high of 44 cruise ship visits in 2016, the port will handle around 19 transit cruises and more than 30 turnarounds.
Return visitors for 2017 include Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines with 14 calls, Cruise & Maritime Voyages with eight calls, AIDA cruises, Holland America Line and Disney Cruises with Disney Magic.
New operators visiting the Port of Tyne include Norwegian Cruise Line with Norwegian Jade and TUI Cruises with its Mein Schiff ships. Port of Tyne will serve as the only UK departure port for Thomson Cruises, which has scheduled 12 voyages from the port.
Cruises from the Port of Tyne will take passengers to Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, the Baltics and more.

The Port of Tyne’s cruise and ferry business adds around £60 million to the local economy and supports an estimated 1,700 tourism-related jobs.
