The Port of Vigo in Spain has hosted its first cruise ship in almost 18 months, after welcoming Sea Dream Yacht Club’s SeaDream I in August.

The call was marked with a welcome ceremony featuring a performance by traditional Galician folk music musicians and a personal reception at the pier from the president of the port, Jesús Vázquez Almuíña.

SeaDream I shared the dock with private mega yacht Azzam, which is undergoing renovations in Vigo, and Mystic Cruises’ World Explorer, a polar expedition ship currently laid up until she resumes sailing in October.

SeaDream I sailed with a reduced capacity and enhanced sanitary procedures. The port authority has also enforced a protocol for cruise ship calls that includes procedures to promote social distancing and prevent Covid-19 spreading, both inside the terminals and in the exterior areas. Following Spanish regulations, a specific health control facility has been set up for secondary healthy inspections and for the management of any possible incident.
