Port Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada expects to host 144,000 passengers in 2016, 20% more than in 2015.

This season, which will open on 9 May and close on 28 October, the port will also welcome 64 ships and 57,700 crew members. In total, the port will have eight double-ship days and four triple-ship days.

“Our passenger numbers for 2016 represent an increase of 20% over last year,” said Jim Quinn, president and CEO of Port Saint John. “That is great news for Southern New Brunswick, and for its many tourism-related businesses.”

Six ships will make inaugural calls this year. These include Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Sunshine, Holland America Line’s Rotterdam, Royal Caribbean International’s Anthem of the Seas, Hapag Lloyd’s Europa 2, Azamara Club Cruises’ Azamara Quest and Phoenix Reisen’s Amadea.

Meanwhile, Disney Cruise Line will return to the city on 4 October with Disney Magic after a four-year hiatus. Blount Small Ship Adventures will also revisit and remain docked in the port for five days.

“Our busiest cruise day will be 19 October when we will welcome 8,900 passengers and 3,500 crew for a total of 12,400 visitors to the city,” said Quinn. “We look forward to an active cruise season for the many operators both large and small in Southern New Brunswick who depend on this industry.”
