Disney Cruise Lines’ Disney Magic is to be the first cruise ship of over 300m in length to call in Portland when she makes her maiden visit to the UK port in May 2017.

Able to accommodate more than 2,800 passengers, Disney Magic will call as part of her 15-night transatlantic crossing from Port Canaveral, Florida to Copenhagen, Denmark.

“Securing a call from such a globally renowned and world recognised brand really is great recognition of all the hard work put in by the port to establish itself as a destination of choice for the cruise industry,” said Ian McQuade, general commercial manager at Portland Port. “Disney Magic will be the first cruise ship of over 300m in length to call at Portland Port and we do not expect her to be the last. The recently announced cruise berth extension will allow us to handle ships in excess of 340m long alongside and with more and more cruise ships over 300m long being delivered to the global fleet we anticipate this to be the first of many.”
