Norwegian Cruise Line’s US-flagged Pride of America returned to her Honolulu, Hawaii homeport on 26 March following a three-and-a-half-week drydock.

Part of the fleet-wide US$400 million Norwegian Edge refurbishment programme, all of Pride of America’s staterooms received new bedding, furniture, new flat-screen TVs and updated flooring. Many public spaces were also completely refreshed with contemporary décor, furniture, lighting and flooring.

The ship’s pool deck was updated with a refinished pool, new loungers and Jacuzzis, while the Conservatory was refurbished with upgraded furniture, flooring and modern décor, and the library and card rooms were outfitted with fresh flooring, furniture and six computer stations. In addition, The Mandara Spa has been expanded to include more treatment rooms and feature New Mexican décor, which comprises neutral colours and natural elements like stone and wood.

All of the ship’s complimentary dining venues were extensively renovated, including the Skyline Main Dining Room, which received new décor, entrance, carpet design, furniture upholstery, window drapes and columns. La Cucina, Norwegian’s signature Italian restaurant, and speciality restaurants East Meets West, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Jefferson’s Bistro were also fitted with improved flooring, reupholstered furniture, new artwork, lighting fixtures and more.

Menus have also been redesigned to offer guests more choice, while à la carte priced items are now available in complimentary dining rooms and speciality restaurants.

Norwegian has also created the Soho Art Gallery to enable guests to purchase original artworks, the Perspectives Photo Studio, and Dolce Gelato, Norwegian’s signature gelateria. Meanwhile, the onboard wedding chapel has now been relocated to Deck 6 and features new flooring, furniture and wall fixtures.

“When guests step aboard the all new Pride of America they will be amazed by the breadth of this renovation,” said Andy Stuart, Norwegian’s president and COO. “This is much more than just a fresh coat of paint and new drapes. Pride of America is now essentially a new ship, and the only one to offer this incredibly unique way to experience the Hawaiian Islands with 100 hours of time in port.”

Pride of America is the world’s only US-flagged cruise ship that sails year-round from Honolulu on seven-day intra-Hawaii cruises, enabling guests to spend almost 100 hours in ports on Hawaii’s main islands. Guests can enjoy an overnight in Kahului, Maui; an overnight in Nãwiliwili, Kaua`i; stops in Hilo, Hawaii and Kona, Hawaii; as well as an afternoon cruise by the Nãpali Coast.
