Princess Cruises has introduced a new and expanded wine list in the main dining rooms onboard its 17 ships for 2019.
The new list was developed over the past year by Doug Frost, one of only four people in the world to have both a Master of Wine and Master Sommelier certification. Frost focused on three areas – value for money, variety and quality of the producer – when selecting the wines.
Guests now have a choice of 140 different wines – double the previous wine list – from across the world including France, Italy, Australia, South America and the US. The menu denotes the wines that are biodynamic, organic or vegan.
“Princess Cruises’ guests have a passion for culinary travel so our goal in creating this new wine menu was to find fascinating wines from some of the memorable destinations Princess visits,” said Frost. “This way, guests can return from shore and still experience local tastes with exciting wines at all prices. Plus, what better way to celebrate any occasion than with a special bottle of wine that can be shared with friends and loved ones on a cruise.”
Princess Cruises has updated the wine list as part of its wider efforts to refresh its food and beverage offering. In 2018, the brand unveiled a series of culinary-focused shore excursions around the world, which pair local food and wine together. It also added 20 new spirits, 17 international and craft beers and 39 new wines by the glass added to its bar menus.
