Princess Cruises has created a new jazz lounge named Take 5 for its two newest cruise ships, the 3,660-guest Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess, which will debut in October 2019 and June 2020 respectively.

Billed as the only jazz theatre at sea, the new Take 5 will host live performances, dance lessons and after-hours parties.

Highlights of the entertainment programme will include ‘A Night in Harlem: Sounds of the 1920s’, which will revive New York City’s speakeasy culture during the prohibition era; ‘The Birth of Big Band and BeBop’, which will showcase post-war jazz and BeBop’; and ‘The Way You Look Tonight’, which will celebrate how female singers and instrumentalists changed jazz history.

Guests will also be able to enjoy ‘A Sophisticated Evening of Cool’ which will transport them through the jazz scene in 1950s America, as well as ‘Contemporary Directions – A Festival of Jazz’, which will feature local artists from the various destinations the ships sail to. Meanwhile, guests heading to ‘Toda La Noche’ to hear Afro-Cuban jazz, will be able to take salsa lessons and then return after the show for a 'descarga' jam session.
