Star Princess called at Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur on 4 October for the first time since Hurricane Odile hit the state in mid-September.
Bringing pallets of bottled water, milk, paper products and other relief supplies for the residents impacted by the storm, Star Princess was the first Princess ship to return to the area.
“The residents of Cabo San Lucas form one big hospitality community that regularly welcomes our ships’ guests,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess. “We want to return that hospitality by giving back to them as they work to recover and prepare to receive visitors once again. The entire destination has been working tirelessly to reopen restaurants, shops and tours, and all of us at Princess appreciate and applaud their commitment to tourism and their tremendous effort to rebuild and restore so quickly.”
Star Princess called in Cabo San Lucas as part of her US west coast itinerary programme. Grand Princess and Crown Princess will also provide a variety of seven-, nine- and ten-night Mexico cruises as part of the autumn 2014 and spring 2015 season. Meanwhile Island Princess will call at Mexico destinations, such as Cabo San Lucas, as part of her Panama Canal itineraries.
Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Miracle also called at Cabo San Lucas on 4 October as part of her new year-round Mexican Riviera cruise programme. During her visit, the crew offloaded several pallets of bottled water, canned food, cereal, sanitary supplies, paper products, personal items and other supplies for local residents.
