Princess Cruises has revealed that its new ship, Royal Princess, will offer guests an enhanced relaxation experience when it debuts in June 2013.

The new 3,600-passenger vessel will feature new private cabanas in the line’s popular Sanctuary and Retreat Pool, allowing guests to personalise and improve their onboard relaxation experience.

“The private spa-inspired setting of The Sanctuary and the calm atmosphere of our adults-only pools have made them among the more popular areas on our ships,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president. “So aboard Royal Princess we’re taking both of these areas and giving them a new twist.”

The Sanctuary, which was first introduced by the line of Crown Princess in 2006, incorporates all of the usual Sanctuary features, as well as new elements exclusive to Royal Princess. The retreat area onboard Royal Princess features a new design and décor, with a central pavilion, luxurious lounge chairs and circular daybeds, rock gardens and special topiary planting with atmospheric lighting.

Four Sanctuary Cabanas also offer guests a more exclusive experience, providing amenities such as cushioned sofas, robes and slippers and a personal television with noise-reducing headphones, as well as a fully stocked mini-bar and healthy snacks.

The Sanctuary will also feature two Lotus Spa Cabanas, which offer an enclosed space for a range of spa treatments and alfresco massage experiences.

The adult-only Retreat Pool on Royal Princess has also been expanded and will provide additional seating, as well as new Retreat Cabanas, allowing guests to relax in private, poolside spaces.

All passengers reserving cabanas in either The Sanctuary or by the Retreat Pool can also enjoy a gourmet picnic of antipasti, artisan sandwiches, pizza and fresh-baked deserts, as well as premium bottle of wine.

Royal Princess will encompass many other new features including an expanded atrium, a cantilevered SeaWalk, a television studio, a pastry shop and balconies on all outside staterooms. The ship will debut in June 2013 and will provide cruises on the line’s signature Grand Mediterranean itinerary throughout the summer, before embarking on Eastern Caribbean cruises in the autumn.
