Princess Cruises’ Dominic Laverty has been named Diageo Americas Global Travel Team (GTME) best bartender at the World Class final held in Miami in the US.
Competitors from Diageo GTME cruise line partners Princess Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line were judged on their bartending knowledge, skill and showmanship.
It was judged by a panel of key industry figures including Angus Winchester, Tanqueray global brand ambassador; Ricky Gomez, 2012 US World Class Bartender of the Year; and Philip Duff, award-winning spirits and cocktail educator at Liquid Solutions.
Laverty said: “I’m thrilled to have won the GTME Diageo Reserve World Class final. World Class is taking onboard bartending to a whole new level and to represent the cruise line sector and Diageo GTME at the grand finale is a dream come true.”
He will compete against bartenders from over 50 countries to become Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year at the World Class global final, which will be held onboard Azamara Journey from 4-9 July.
