Pullmantur made its first-ever visit to the Port of Kiel in Germany on 4 May 2018.
Calling as part of a Western Europe cruise that began Portugal on 27 April, Pullmantur’s Zenith was greeted by a water fountain display from one of the port’s tugs and berthed at the Ostseekai Cruise Terminal. The vessel tied up close to TUI Cruises’ new Mein Schiff 1, which was also in port.
Zenith brought 1,000 passengers who were able to take tours and shore excursions to Kiel, the city of Lübeck, Hamburg, the Holstein Switzerland region and the seaside spa resort of Laboe.
The port’s managing director Dirk Claus boarded Zenith to welcome the ship to Kiel and to exchange commemorative plaques with the ship’s captain and crew.
“It is an honour that Pullmantur has, for the first time, included our port in its route planning,” said Claus. “Kiel has much to offer to its international visitors and the port is also the stepping-off point for day excursions throughout Schleswig-Holstein and to Hamburg.”
This year, the Port of Kiel expects to handle around 600,000 passengers during 165 calls from 32 cruise ships.
