Cunard Line’s flagship Queen Mary 2 will make her 200th transatlantic crossing on her 6 July 2013 voyage from New York to Southampton. The vessel, which is in her ninth season since entering service in 2004, will commemorate the milestone with various activities, performances and onboard lectures.

Cunard will offer an onboard evening gala dinner, as well as entertainment from the Juilliard School of Dance, Drama and Music who will perform jazz and orchestral music, provide music for an afternoon tea dance, offer lunchtime jam sessions and give two jazz master class lectures.

As part of the celebratory Cunard Insights enrichment programme, Stephen Payne OBE, will give a lecture on the overall design of Queen Mary 2. Nick Owen, BBC newsreader and Classic FM presenter will also give an onboard lecture.

“Sailing a Transatlantic Crossing aboard our flagship Queen Mary 2 is a luxury travel experience like no other,” said Peter Shanks, president of Cunard Line. “And now with 200 Crossings under her belt, the grandest ocean liner in the world has proven to be the icon of the new golden age of ocean travel across the Atlantic.”

Several other Cunard ships have made record numbers of transatlantic crossings including Queen Mary, which sailed from 1936 to 1967 and crossed 1,001 times, Queen Elizabeth which offered 896 crossings from 1940 until 1968 and Queen Elizabeth 2 which made 812 crossings between 1969 and 2008.
