Cunard Line’s Queen Victoria made her maiden call at Heraklion port in Greece on 17 June.
Meanwhile, the ship’s 2,020 passengers were welcomed by Heraklion Municipality’s 25-strong Philharmonic Orchestra, which played popular music from famous films and musicals.
To mark the visit, the ship’s captain, hotel manager and officers exchanged plaques and commemorative gifts with Ioannis Bras, president and managing director of Heraklion Port Authority; Vasilios Lamprinos, Mayor of Heraklion; and Maria Kanavaki, the city’s deputy mayor.
Queen Victoria is the sixth ship to make a maiden call at Heraklion since the start of 2015. The port has already welcomed inaugural visits from Windstar Cruises’ Star Pride, Princess Cruises’ Emerald Princess, P&O Cruises’ Oriana, Celestyal Cruises’ Celesytal Odyssey and Nippon Yusen Kaisha’s Asuka II. On 18 August, Heraklion will also welcome Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Equinox for the first time.
