A record 960,000 visitors will join 203 cruise itineraries and sail from the Port of Seattle in Washington to Alaska this summer.
The cruise industry to Alaska started in 1999 with just six sailings and has now has grown into a business valued at more than £300 million.
This year, several ships will offer weekly seven-day departures from Seattle to Alaska, including Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Legend, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Solstice, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Jewel and the Norwegian Pearl, Oceania Cruises’ Oceania Regatta, Princess Cruises’ Crown Princess and Ruby Princess and Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas. Meanwhile, Holland America Line’s Westerdam and Amsterdam will operate seven-day departures on Saturdays and Sundays and Maasdam will offer 14-day sailings each Monday.
