Portland Port handled a record 2,567 passengers when AIDA Cruises’ AIDAstella called for the final time in August.

AIDAstella made her inaugural visit to Portland on 17 May and has visited a further three times this year. The recently launched vessel is also scheduled to return during the 2014 and 2015 cruise seasons.

“We have been delighted with the way the 2013 cruise season is panning out,” said Ian McQuade, the port’s general manager of business development. “The feedback from both cruise lines and their guests has been very positive and gives us great encouragement for the future.”

Portland Port is scheduled to receive 19 calls and more than 20,000 passengers this year.
