Singapore’s Sembawang Shipyard is to renovate Princess Cruises’ 115,875 gt Diamond Princess in March 2014, following the successful refit of Sun Princess.

“Sembawang Shipyard’s team recently revitalised Sun Princess and showed dedication and commitment, working closely with our team and successfully completing the work in a timely manner and to a high QHSE standard expected for all Princess dockings,” said John Gunner, senior vice president, Technical at Princess Cruises. “As such, we are pleased to award the upgrading of Diamond Princess to
Sembawang Shipyard.”

The shipyard will also complete all future drydock work for the line as part of parent company Carnival’s Favoured Customer Contract.

Gunner said: “We look forward to a good partnership in the years ahead, which will enhance the results of our docking and revitalisation programme.”
