Resorts World Cruises is to add a third cruise ship to its fleet from 26 March 2025, when the 1,800-passenger Star Scorpio begins homeporting at the Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC).

Star Scorpio will offer a selection of itineraries from SCC until 21 July 2025. They will include visits to Jakarta and Medan in Indonesia, Melaka and Pulau Redang in Malaysia, Bangkok and Ko Samui in Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

The ship will operate six-day Melaka-Jakarta cruises from 26 March to 15 April and 11 June to 1 July, five-night Bangkok-Ko Samui sailings between April and May, and five-day Samui-Pulau Redang cruises in May. In addition, it will sail four-day Melaka-Medan cruises from 27 May to 8 June and six-day Night Melaka-Ho Chi Minh itineraries in July.

These itineraries have been designed to enable passengers to embark Star Scorpio for roundtrip cruises at the dual homeports in Jakarta (via Tanjong Priok Port), Bangkok (via Laem Chabang), Melaka (via the ICQS cruise terminal) and Ho Chi Minh City (via Phu My Port).

“We are pleased to introduce Star Scorpio as the third cruise ship for our fleet and to kick start her maiden deployment in Singapore,” said Michael Goh, president of Resorts World Cruises. “Star Scorpio’s dual homeport in Singapore with different countries in Asia will offer Indonesians, Thais, Malaysians and Vietnamese roundtrip cruises from their ports during their peak holiday periods without the need to fly to another country.

“For Vietnam, Star Scorpio will be the first cruise ship to homeport in Ho Chi Minh City, allowing Vietnamese to enjoy affordable cruises to Singapore and Melaka. For Singapore passengers, the 14-hour Jakarta port time will allow passengers to go to the historic city of Bandung using the new high-speed rail, which travels at a speed of up to 250 kilometres per hour with the rare chance to also visit a live volcano.”

Star Scorpio is currently operating as P&O Australia’s Pacific Explorer, however Carnival Corporation is to retire the Australian cruise brand in February 2025. As such, Star Scorpio will undergo a $50 million refurbishment in Singapore prior to joining the Resorts World Cruises fleet. It will be fitted with Resorts World Cruises restaurants, bars, showroom and other recreational facilities.
