Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL) has announced that it is exercising its option to build a second Sunshine-class cruise ship, with delivery scheduled for spring 2015.
The Meyer Werft yard in Germany will build the vessel according to similar terms agreed for the first ‘Project Sunshine’ ship, which will be delivered in autumn 2014. Each of the 158,000 gt newbuilds will carry just over 4,100 guests based on double occupancy. RCCL owns a total of 40 ships spread across its various brands and currently has three ships on order.
“This confirms our continued confidence in the success of this new generation of ships and our strong conviction about the Royal Caribbean International brand,” said Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of RCCL.
