The first of Princess Cruises’ new-generation ships, Royal Princess, will homeport at Port Everglades, Florida, during the 2013 Caribbean winter cruising season.

“We are honoured that Princess Cruises has once again selected Port Everglades to homeport the line’s newest and most sophisticated cruise ship, Royal Princess,” said Port Everglades chief executive and port director, Steven Cernak. “Princess has a long, successful history at Port Everglades and we look forward to welcoming her in grand style.”

Following her inaugural voyage from Southampton on 16 June , Royal Princess will spend the summer season offering Mediterranean cruises, before arriving at her US homeport in autumn.

The 141,000-ton vessel will berth at Cruise Terminal 2, which has been renovated to accommodate extended check-in and baggage claim areas, covered walkways and streamlined transportation routing. The expansion also enhances the passenger experience by facilitating seamless shore-to-ship transitions.

Royal Princess will join several of the cruise company’s vessels already homeporting at Port Everglades including Coral Princess, Ruby Princess, Emerald Princess, Island Princess and Caribbean Princess
