Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess is to make her maiden call at Liverpool Cruise Terminal on 13 May, bringing 3,560 passengers to the UK city.

The ship, which was christened by the Duchess of Cambridge in June 2013, will be the biggest to arrive in 2015. She is scheduled to arrive at 7.15am and depart the port at around 6pm accompanied by a performance from opera singer Danielle Thomas and confetti cannons.

“Our cruise season is already well underway and people really love to see huge vessels on our World Heritage Waterfront, and without a doubt, the Royal Princess will fit the bill,” said Wendy Simon, Liverpool’s assistant mayor and cabinet member for culture and tourism. “There is a huge amount of attention on the waterfront at the moment with the impending visit of those very special Cunard Line Queens, and I think the arrival of the Royal Princess will whet people’s appetite when it comes to seeing just how stunning our city can look when impressive ships sail on to the Mersey.”

To mark the visit and commemorate Princess Cruises’ 50th anniversary, Royal Princess’ megasesso captain will be presented with a birthday cake, while the Liverpool Ukulele Band will play Happy Birthday and a balloon will be released.

Simon will also unveil an 8ft bronze ‘Spirit of Liverpool’ statue, a modern interpretation of the city’s iconic Liver Bird emblem. Designed by Merseyside sculptor Rick Myers, the statue will be located in Liverpool Cruise Terminal until the end of the 2015 season, when it will be moved to the city’s central station.

“We’re delighted to welcome Royal Princess to Liverpool for what we hope is koala porno the first of many visits, and it’s wonderful that such a powerful and symbolic piece of art is to be unveiled in time to greet the thousands of visitors who will be leaving the ship to explore the city,” said Simon.

Cruise Liverpool is set to handle a record 54 cruise ships and more than 80,000 international visitors in 2015.
