Saga is to offer its first river cruise for solo travellers on Arlene this October.
Departing on 14 October, the seven-night ‘Autumn Colours of the Rhine’ cruise starts with an onboard cocktail party and an overnight in Bonn, Germany. The following morning, guests will be able to take an optional walking tour to composer Ludwig van Beethoven’s former home, the Electoral Palace and its Hofgarten and baroque City Hall. The ship will then head to Koblenz, where guests can enjoy an optional tour to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, and then the wine-making town of Rüdesheim. Here, guests can explore the Drosselgasse, a cobbled street lined with old-style taverns, or visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum before an afternoon’s sailing along the Rhine to Andernach.
The 52-guest Arlene will then continue to Cologne, which has more than 100 galleries, dozens of museums, a gothic cathedral and more. The ship will then moor at Nijmegen, the Netherlands’ oldest city, and call at Arnhem to enable guests to participate in an optional commemoration tour to learn about the World War II Battle of Arnhem.
