The Port of Saint Malo has become the sixth French port to join the Atlantic Alliance cruise association.
Located in northwestern France, Brittany, the port offers easy access to the Malouinières and Mont St Michel – a popular Unesco world heritage site – and will be marketed as one of the Alliance’s European West Coast cruise destinations.
“Saint Malo port intends to develop cruise business for many years. It is important to again be part of an European network working together to promote new itineraries,” said Elisabeth Gouzien, cruise tourist manager of CCI- Saint Malo Fougeres. “There are increasing opportunities for short cruises in the region with the possibility of embarkation from different countries with an enormous variety of landscape all within a short distance.”
A new cruise terminal which opened at the port in 2011 can accommodate four vessels at once. Ships measuring 150 to 250 metres in length can anchor in the harbour, while those measuring less than 150 metres can dock at a berth. Both the terminal and the tender landing are within walking distance of the city.
Around 33 cruise ships and 14,000 passengers visit Saint Malo every year.
