Salt and Water Studio has designed the interiors for a new four-deck river cruise ship that will take European travellers on itineraries along the Mekong River in Southeast Asia.
Created in cooperation with Vahali Shipyard, the interior design for the 56-metre-long vessel is based on the “heritage of Far East architecture” and will serve as a “frame for the nature through which it is cruising.” Hence, the geometry and the types and textures of the materials are all characteristic of those found in Southeast Asia, according to Salt and Water Studio.
Onboard highlights will include a massage centre and a gym on the stern of the lower deck, a café and restaurant in the bow, and a top deck with a swimming pool, bar, seats with tables and lounge and sunbathing areas. In addition, there will be a two-deck entrance hall area with a reception desk, symmetrical staircases and decorative greenery.
Guest cabins will feature dark wood, rattan and beige walls with blue and red details. They will also have storage for suitcases and places for charging electrical devices.
