Sauvée wins 'personality' award

Compagnie du Ponant CEO, Jean Emmanual Sauvée, was awarded Mediterranean Cruise Personality of the Year at the sixth annual Seatrade cruise industry awards in Marseille, on 27 November.

Seatrade and category sponsor V.Ships, chose Sauvée from nominations and speaking at the evening event, V.Ships CEO Andrea Zito commended Sauvée’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to cruising in France. Seatrade said: “This year’s winner is one of the outstanding personalities in the Mediterranean cruise industry.”

Co-founder of the French cruise yacht brand which has been operating for more than 20 years, Sauvée managed a successful acquisition of the company by private equity firm Bridgepoint, from CMA CGM, in September 2012. He continues to play an active part in the company’s future development by ensuring growth goals and international expansion are achieved.

In other category wins, Cruise Scotland collected Destination of the Year, NYCruise picked up Port of the Year, Disney Cruise Line was singled out for Environmental Initiative, Intercruises for Innovative Shorex and DeCurtis Corporation was named Supplier of the Year.

Fidelio Cruise was principal sponsor of the industry awards and the company's CEO Tony Heuer announced the winners, who were chosen by an independent, 16-member, international judging panel.
