Award-winning travel agent Jonette Shepherd christened Scenic Cruises’ latest ‘Space-ship’ in Vienna, Austria, on 13 October.

Reinforcing its strong relationship with the travel industry, Scenic chose Shepherd due to her reputation as an agent who is fully committed to improving the quality of the travel industry.

“Jonette embodies everything that is stellar in the travel industry and is admired by suppliers and agents alike for her unending commitment to quality, customer service and integrity,” said Glen Moroney, founder and owner of Scenic Cruises. “We are honoured to have Jonette be godmother to our beautiful ship.”

Shepherd has served as general manager of Unique Travel in Florida for the past 20 years, helping to grow the agency from three to 65 staff and win multiple awards from cruise lines, hoteliers and tour operators.

“I am so honoured and humbled to have been selected to be the godmother of the Scenic Jade,” said Jonette. “It is such a privilege to be associated with Scenic Cruises, the company’s professionalism and partnership within our trade speaks for itself. This event is truly the pinnacle of my 30-year career in the travel industry.”

Scenic ‘Space-Ships’ are designed and built by De Hoop, a Dutch yard that specialises in building river cruise vessels. Scenic Jade has a 3:1 guest-to-staff ratio and features luxury suites with private full-size balconies, walk-in showers and Egyptian linens in the cabins, a 24-hour fitness centre, multiple dining venues and wifi. Guests can also enjoy unlimited beverages, personal butler service, excursions, events and entertainment and benefit from the Scenic Riverview personal GPS commentary device, which acts like a personal tour guide while they are onboard the ship.

Scenic Jade will sail along the Danube, Main and Rhine rivers in Europe.
