Cruise terminal operator SCH handled more than 8,000 passengers in three different UK ports in a single day.
In Southampton, SCH helped to disembark nearly 4,000 passengers from Navigator of the Seas as part of its contract with Royal Caribbean International. The team then helped to load a similar number of passengers and their luggage, as well as hundreds of tonnes of stores onto the ship before it departed for Western Europe.
Meanwhile in Liverpool, SCH and its in-house agency Pathfinder Personnel, carried out a similar turnaround for Cruise and Maritime Voyages’ Marco Polo. The team helped 800 passengers to disembark from a cruise to Iceland and Northern Lights locations, then embark a similar number of passenger for a two-day Dublin mini-cruise.
In Portsmouth, SCH’s sister company Southern Maritime Services handled a day call from Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Bremen, which arrived with nearly 160 passengers.
“Handling three cruise ships on the same day at different ends of the country demonstrated our extensive expertise in cruise vessel operations,” said Glen Gardner, SCH cruise operations manager. “Our specialist teams based in each port are experts in dealing with operations ranging from thousands of passengers to much smaller groups with specific requirements.”
