James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz has joined Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum Experience Advisor programme as a culinary advisor.

Schwartz will help the line to add new twists to the Chef's Table, create new food and beverage pairings and plan the food and beverage experiences for guests onboard Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, which debut in November 2014 and spring 2015 respectively. Schwartz has previously designed seasonal tasting menus with fresh ingredients for 150 Central Park, the restaurant on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships.

“I’m very pleased to be named a Quantum Experience Advisor and become even more engaged with the Quantum Class,” said Michael. “With the new Michael’s Genuine Pub and other ‘Dynamic Dining’ options onboard Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, there are plenty of opportunities to showcase how good food and good drink can help enhance a Royal Caribbean Quantum-class vacation.”

In addition, Schwartz will open Michael's Genuine Pub – the first American gastro pub at sea – as part of the line’s new ‘Dynamic Dining’ experience, which offers guests more flexibility to choose between the ships’18 different restaurants. Reinventing the traditional main dining room and Chef’s Table, the ‘Dynamic Dining’ concept offers five complimentary, full-service restaurants, each with its own distinctive cuisine, to offer guests a more intimate and varied dining experience every night of their cruise.

“We are very much looking forward to continue working with Michael in his new role as a Quantum Experience Advisor, where he will help us deliver culinary ‘Wows’ onboard Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, executive vice president of operations, Royal Caribbean International. “Our onboard culinary programme has always emphasised fresh, natural ingredients, and Michael’s culinary philosophy will be a perfect complement as we work together to serve up never-before dining experiences at sea onboard the Quantum Class.”

Schwartz is the third celebrity to become part of Royal Caribbean’s Experience Advisors programme. In May 2013, American interior designer and HGTV personality Genevieve Gorder was appointed as design advisor, while former National Football League player and philanthropist Dhani Jones was appointed as sports and fitness advisor last October.
