Seabourn has unveiled design details for The Retreat, a new relaxation area onboard its latest newbuild, Seabourn Encore, which will launch this December.
Located on Deck 12, The Retreat is housed under a flower-shaped canopy that shields guests from the elements and features sun loungers for up to 28 guests, bar stools and table seats, and a central whirlpool with step-up access. The area is also ringed with 15 private cabanas designed as individual luxury living rooms that each feature a large HD flat-screen TV and a refrigerator stocked with a personalised selection of beverages. Cabanas will be available daily and may be reserved for a full day via the Guest Service Specialists at Seabourn Square. An additional Spa Treatment Cabana is also available for guests to enjoy personalised spa services.
“The Retreat is the perfect environment for guests to experience pure relaxation and rejuvenation, from your own private cabana or shared spaces,” said Chris Prelog, Seabourn’s vice president of marine hotel operations. “As a perfect rooftop getaway, The Retreat is sure to be among the most popular destinations onboard our vessels.”
Guests will also be able to enjoy fresh fruit and foods from the spa menu, as well as champagne and cocktails. Other available amenities will include premium sun lotions, Evian mist spray, towels and personalised bathrobes, while a dedicated Retreat Concierge will be available to satisfy guest requests.
Modelled on Seabourn’s Odyssey-class ships, Seabourn Encore is the first of two luxury cruise ships Fincantieri will build for the line over the next three years. The ship will be configured with one additional deck, new expanded public areas, suites with private verandas and will carry just 600 guests. The interiors have been created by hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany.
Seabourn has also revealed renderings for its new signature fine-dining restaurant, The Grill by Thomas Keller, which will debut on Seabourn Quest in May 2016. Featuring a menu and an interior by the classic American chophouse, The Grill is a collaboration between three-star Michelin chef Thomas Keller and Tihany. The venue will be lined with leather banquettes and tan leather swivel chairs, while the ceiling will feature curved wood coffers reminiscent of luxury yacht and the bar will have metal mesh panels topped with emerald marble.
The Grill by Thomas Keller will move into the former Restaurant 2 onboard Seabourn Quest following her April drydock and on Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Odyssey after their drydocks. Newbuilds Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation will offer the venue when they launch in December 2016 and spring 2018, respectively.
“We are delighted Chef Keller has partnered with us to produce such a standout dining experience for guests to enjoy as they travel the world with Seabourn,” said Richard Meadows, Seabourn president. “Wrapped in a fresh design from Adam D. Tihany, The Grill by Thomas Keller will take our already award-winning cuisine to new heights.”
