SeaKing Electrical is to provide a complete maintenance and support package for Mersey Ferries’ three-ship fleet, which sails on the river Mersey in Liverpool, UK.

The maritime firm, which has supported the ferry fleet for many years, has been formally accepted onto the marine engineering consultants framework for Mersey Ferries until 2019.

Based in Birkenhead in Liverpool, SeaKing Electrical employs around 125 engineers and has worked with a number of major cruise and ferry brands including DFDS and Stena Line. The company provides construction, modification and refurbishment services for marine electrical control equipment, as well as fault-finding and repair services for components such as electric motors, electronic variable speed drives, generator switchgear and programmable logic controllers.

“We have delivered work for the Mersey Ferries fleet over the years, however we still had to showcase the diversity of our skills and expertise throughout a highly-competitive tendering process in order to be successfully appointed onto the framework,” said Dave Gillam, managing director of SeaKing Electrical. “We will be providing Mersey Ferries with the complete marine electrical engineering service, which involves high-skill design, manufacturing, installation and maintenance.”
