Ferry was designed by Incat Crowther, built by Austal Philippines and will operate in South Korea

South Korean operator Seaspovill is celebrating the launch of its new passenger catamaran ferry SeaStar 11, which was designed in collaboration with Incat Crowther and built by Austal Philippines.
SeaStar 11 has been designed with a z-bow hull form and centre bow giving the operator new levels of operability and comfort, as well as a long waterline length and low structural weight to reduce costs and fuel consumption. Incat has also enhanced the operational envelope of the vessel to enable her to operate in rougher conditions, significantly reducing the number of lost sailing days.
Powered by four MTU 16V2000 M72 main engines, each producing 1440kW and driving KaMeWa 56A3 waterjets, SeaStar 11 is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 40 knots. The vessel has been optimised for a loaded operating speed of 33 knots.
SeaStar 11’s primary boarding location will be the midship doors, which are fitted with hinged ramps operated by electric winches. From here, passengers will enter a large central space with luggage storage, a stairway to the upper deck, bathrooms and a kiosk. The main deck accommodates 346 passengers, while the upper deck seats 96 and the VIP cabin caters for 8. A crew room is located adjacent to the elevated wheelhouse, whilst an additional two toilets are located aft.
The 50-metre-long ferry will be able to carry 450 passengers on the route between Donghae and Gangneung to the island of Ulleung-do in South Korea.
