Sept-Îles cruise port in Quebec, Canada has closed its 2016 cruise season after welcoming four ships and a total of 4,319 passengers and crew members.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ Marco Polo was the first to call in 2016, which was followed by the port’s first double-ship day on 26 September. Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Serenity and Silversea Cruises’ Silver Whisper brought a total of 2,500 guests to Sept-Îles on 26 September, berthing at two different cruise piers. According to the port authority, employees handled the logistical challenge successfully and ‘drew positive feedback’ from both the tour operators and members of the industry. Silver Whisper later returned to the port and closed the season.

Next year, Destination Sept-Îles Nakauinanu will celebrate its tenth anniversary and welcome several ships and their crew and passengers. Return callers will include Marco Polo and Saga Cruises’ Saga Sapphire, while first-time visitors will include Oceania Cruises’ Insignia and Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Navigator. In 2018, Sept-Îles will host the inaugural visit of Cunard Line’s flagship Queen Mary 2 during her St. Lawrence cruise.
