The government of Québec will invest more than CAD24 million for electrical shore power facilities at the port of Montréal and Québec, according to cruise body Cruise the Saint Lawrence.

Tourism Québec will also to invest CAD7.625 million over the next three years to help develop the Saint Lawrence region as an international cruise destination. Of this sum, CAD5.9 million will be used to develop and support the cruise tourism infrastructure initiatives in six of the region’s ports including Baie-Comeau, Gaspésie, Havre-Saint-Pierre, Îles de la Madeleine, Saguenay and Sept-Îles.

Cruise the Saint Lawrence has also been given an additional CAD1.725 million, allowing it to implement its action plan for 2013-2016. This will include improving the ‘Best Bienvenue in the World’ greeting policy, which was adopted by Cruise the Saint Lawrence and its member ports last year. Over the next couple of years, the association will work to develop the greeting infrastructure and enhance its ports’ services to improve the passenger and crew experience.
