Silversea Cruises celebrated its 20th anniversary with a gala lunch onboard Silver Cloud, the first ship in the fleet, on 4 August.
Moored at HMS Belfast on the River Thames in London, the ship hosted loyal Silversea guests and VIPs during the event, which was held in association with the line’s culinary partner Relais & Châteaux. The menu was prepared by Michael Caines, Relais & Châteaux’s grand chef and two-Michelin-star executive head chef of Gidleigh Park in Devon, UK.
Silversea’s partnership with Relais & Châteaux, an exclusive collection of 520 hotels and gourmet restaurants in more than 60 countries, extends across the line’s entire fleet. The main dining room of each ship offers signature dishes of La Collection du Monde, while the vessels also feature the only Relais & Châteaux restaurant at sea, Le Champagne.
“Today is a very special day for Silversea as we celebrate our 20th anniversary,” said Steve Odell, Silversea’s president of Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. “It seems fitting that we are onboard Silver Cloud, the first ship in our fleet, which is moored next to HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge in London for this gala lunch. We would like to thank our guests who have helped us to reach this important milestone and we look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries in the years to come.”
Over the past 20 years Silversea has expanded its fleet to eight ships, including its three expedition vessels Silver Explorer, Silver Galapagos and Silver Discoverer. The line offers guests large-ship amenities onboard all-suite, all-inclusive vessels, while its itineraries encompass more than 400 destinations across all seven continents.
Silversea will launch a number of initiatives to celebrate the 20th anniversary throughout 2014, such as trade incentives and consumer events.
