The Cruise Europe Conference is scheduled to take place from 23-25 April in Le Havre, France.
Holland America Line’s director of deployment and itinerary planning Simon Douwes will give the keynote speech, while Celebrity Cruises’ Brian Powell will offer tips on improving cooperation between cruise lines and ports.
Nigel Lingard, a former sales and marketing director at Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, will moderate a discussion on onshore power supply with Robert Ashdown, secretary general of CLIA Europe, CE chairman Michael McCarthy and Ton van Bremen of the port of Amsterdam. Cruise lines will also evaluate the effect of the introduction of emission control areas on ship deployment in 2015.
Steven Young, head of port operations and services at Carnival UK; Captain Luigi Pastena of MSC Cruises; Kay-Uwe Maross, senior manager of port operations and itinerary planning at AIDA Cruises; and Luis de Carvalho of Consult DC will highlight the ways ports and shore excursion operators can remain competitive.
Delegates will tour Le Havre’s port facilities and the city, while cruise line representatives and press will be taken on a possible new shore excursion to the Town Hall tower and the eighteenth century Ship Owner’s Mansion.
TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 1 and AIDA Cruises’ AIDAstella will call at the port of Le Havre during the conference.
