Skagen has welcomed 15 summer cruise calls at its new DKK226 million cruise facilities, which opened at the end of April 2015.

One of the first cruise ships to call at the new cruise quay was Royal Caribbean International’s Brilliance of the Seas, while other visitors included P&O Cruises’ Azura, Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s Balmoral, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Voyager and Silversea Cruises’ Silver Whisper.

“We have received very positive response from the cruise ship captains to the new cruise facilities and both guests and crew alike have been pleased with our welcome facilities,” said Willy Hansen, the port’s managing director. “Furthermore, it seems as if the cruise guests have also taken a great fancy to Skagen and the local Skageners have really enjoyed having visitors from all over the world walking, biking and driving round exploring Skagen.”

As part of the cruise terminal enhancement project, the port’s entrance was extended from 80m to 250m, while the existing cruise pier was increased from 170m to 190m. The port also created a new basin with a 450m quay. Both quays were fitted with a passenger terminal that features a lounge, toilets, a showroom, a crew lounge, information point and a bike rental kiosk.
