Star Cruises’ 51,309 gt SuperStar Aquarius will homeport in Kota Kinabalu, the city capital of Sabah in Malaysia, for the first time from 6 November 2013 to 30 March 2014.
Star Cruises will be the first international cruise line to homeport in Kota Kinabalu and will offer four-day cruises from the port to Brunei’s Bandar Seri Begawan and Sarawak’s Bintulu every Sunday. The ship will also offer a daily one-night high sea experience from Wednesday to Saturday.
“Sabah has been a top tourist destination for decades,” said Edward Johann Leong, vice president of East Malaysia operations at Star Cruises. “We are proud to be the first international cruise line to homeport in Kota Kinabalu, attracting not only domestic but also international guests to Sabah. We envision that this deployment will help build the cruise tourism industry in this part of Asia and boost local tourism economies.”
Passengers can enjoy a range of shore excursions and recreational activities, as well as onboard entertainment, a 409 sqm duty-free shopping gallery, a spa, nine restaurants and bars offering international, southeast Asia and Chinese cuisine.
SuperStar Aquarius currently homeports in Keelung, Taiwan and will embark on an eight-day cruise from Kaohsiung on 29 October, calling at Hong Kong, Manila and Boracay before arriving in Kota Kinabalu.
