Stein Kruse, president and CEO of Holland America Line (HAL), has received the 2013 Cruise Baltic Crown Award in recognition of his efforts to generate international tourism by offering a range of cruise itineraries in the Baltic Sea region. Kruse was also commended for his contribution towards combating the legislative issues challenging Northern Europe.

“Stein has always been very supportive of Cruise Baltic; and we hope Holland America Line’s engagement with our network will carry on into the future,” said Bo Larsen, director of Cruise Baltic.

Paul Goodwin, executive vice president of onboard revenue, planning, port operations and tours at HAL, accepted the award on behalf of Kruse.

“With the diversity in this part of the world, there will always be a demand for a cruise product where you can combine well known destinations with smaller, lesser-known places,” said Goodwin. “The Baltic gives us the opportunity to create some remarkable itineraries and that is why HAL will continue to deploy ships there.”

The award scheme was launched in 2011 by Cruise Baltic and acknowledges the contribution of an individual or an organisation to the growth of the Baltic Sea region as a cruise destination.
